Practical Assessment Option A, Face-to-Face:

Assessors must satisfy the Standards for Registered Training Organisations requirements for assessors. Assessors must have 2 years consecutive industry experience in the application of the skills and knowledge of these units.

A copy of your assessors skill set MUST be provided.

Practical Assessment Option B, Video Assessment:

A video may be sent to Active Training either via Youtube or USB for assessment.

Incorporating the Units of Competence:

  • SISFFIT008  Instruct Water Based Activites
  • SISFFIT022  Instruct Aquatic Sessions for Specific Population Groups

The units involve self-paced learning with assessment workbooks (including written assessments) and supplementary readings. Participants will also complete Field Experience hours to satisfy the assessment requirements of these units.

These units are recommended for those who currently hold a Certificate III in Fitness wishing to instruct Aqua Fitness

Topics Include but are not limited to:

  • Develop water-based session plans
  • Determine appropriate phases, exercises or choreography to meet group needs
  • Develop and document program plans that include key instructional information
  • Determine type of aquatic training methods and equipment required to achieve client goals
  • Develop customised training sessions to meet the needs of clients
  • Provide clear instructions using effective communication and instructional principles
  • Evaluate water-based sessions

Whilst these units provide participants with basic competencies to deliver aqua fitness classes, we recommend that candidates undertake either the Aqua Fitness Instructor Certificate or Certificate III in Fitness (Aqua Fitness Instructor Elective Units)
