* Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) is delivered as a stand-alone unit at an additional cost. It is a pre-requisite that you have this qualification before you can complete the remainder of the units that make up the Pool Lifeguard skill set.

These units of competency from the SIS Sport, Fitness and Recreation Training Package make up the Pool Lifeguard skill set - SISSS00133. Upon successful completion, the student will receive a Statement of Attainment certificate.

Duration

Face-to-face instruction is 2 days.

Students must obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI) prior to enrolling in this course. Please visit https://www.usi.gov.au/ for more information.

Valid for

1 Year.

A full course must be completed if a Pool Lifeguard qualification has expired after a period greater than 4 weeks.

A refresher course must be completed if a Pool Lifeguard qualification has expired by a period of less than 4 weeks and the person has been working consistently in the industry. Evidence must be supplied to support this employment.

Pre Requisites

A copy of a current Provide First Aid qualification must be supplied.

Course Accreditation
The course is nationally recognised.
Physical Requirements

This is a physical course. A student must be fit and strong enough to:

  • Swim 25 metres to a casualty, tow them 25 metres and remove them from the water with assistance from other students.
  • The student must also be able to kneel for the CPR component of the course.
Delivery Mode

Face to face.

Assessment

Practical and Theory assessments will be conducted during the course.

If a practical assessment is deemed Not Competent, students will be given an 8-week period from that date to complete a re-assessment.
